I'm a mechatronics engineer. This might explain what comes next.
It started during the pandemic, when I moved abroad alone and had to learn to cook anything and everything I wanted to eat. Recipes get easier with practice, but I kept noticing the same problem: the format never matched how cooking actually works. Steps that could happen at once were written one after another, and I'd find myself scrolling up and down constantly for ingredient quantities.
So I started sketching the flow and dependencies of each recipe before I cooked it, especially when making multiple dishes at once.
Those sketches developed into a new visual language for recipes.
